HEAL THE HARBOR, INC. ASKS WHY NOT AN ENVIRONMENTAL MIDDLE EAST PEACE PLAN?

HEAL THE HARBOR, Inc.'s Board ASKS-WHY NOT WORLDWIDE HARBOR CHANNEL DREDGING MATERIAL BE USED AS FILL TO MAKE ARTIFICIAL ISLANDS FOR PALESTINIAN GOVERNMENTAL OFFICES AND MAKE THE GAZA STRIP INTO CAPE GAZA? This solution may have been overlooked so far...

Each year millions upon millions of cubic yards of sand and silt must be dredged from harbor channels around the world just to keep them open to shipping. Currently this sand and silt is dumped offshore causing turgidity, pollution and loss of productivity in the ocean fisheries.

This material could be taken to fill caissons off the coast of Gaza to form a series of artificial islands that are not claimed by Israelis as part of any covenant with God, etc.

While providing Land for Peace, this material could also be stopped from being dumped offshore as is the current case.

Israeli bulldozers could be used to push sand and rock into the shallow waters off Gaza Strip to form Cape Gaza instead of pushing down Palestinian homes and hopes.

This New Year's Day please announce this LAND FOR PEACE Project possibility. Jimmy Carter of the recent Nobel Peace Prize and Habitat for Humanity might help oversee this project.

PEACE ON EARTH AND GOODWILL TO MAN is the TRUE MESSAGE-NOT WAR.

Cape Coral Florida and the large artificial island just constructed in L.A.'s outer harbor as a container storage terminal should be the models for this project-Prime real estate made out of the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico or L.A.'s outer harbor where nothing was before.

Sunrise and sunset high-rise condo views over water with boatdocks and saltwater access canals (200 foot wide canals are best)as well as a duty free port and oil tanker terminal would make this a successful series of developments from the financial/environmental and political standpoints.

For those who fear sea level rise, this project will slow the sea level rise rate as material dredged up from below the sea's surface and deposited above sea's surface helps lower the rate of sea level rise.

For those who fear America, this project will show how American ingenuity and love can be used for the common world good and Peace.

With Best Wishes For A HAPPY and SAFE New Year for you, the readers of the Los Angeles Times, America and the World.

Sincerely yours,

Tim Beck, M.A.
